Week 2

I found this weeks reading to be good and bad. The first reading by Glenn A. Olds was very entertaining and enlighting. It really talked about how physical education is really not done right by some physical educators. It says that since physical education is such an important part of growing, it is a necessity that all physical educators get on the same page and do their jobs to have the kids benefit from the class. The second reading was too boring for me. It talked about art in comparison to sports, which I find few similarities and tons of differences. Overall, I like the readings so far but would like for some more interesting stuff to come along.

You've mentioned the problem you have with comparing sports to art in class. I agree that there's a lot that's different between sports and art, and so you miss a lot of the point of sport if you're going to "reduce" it to art. I take comparing sports and art as being as much about bringing out their differences and similarities, but the advantages of any similarities is that there is a much bigger stock of "art concepts" than "sport concepts", so they can be borrowed, and adapted for sport.
But is there a particular beef you have with the comparison?
